The power in asking: Are you okay?

Each September, we mark R U OK? Day and World Suicide Prevention Day. It's a time to reflect and check in on those around us. There's power in asking the are you okay question, so this month, promote checking in and how to access support. You never know: a conversation could save a life. For this R U OK? Day, we have you covered with a guide on how to explore conversations and break down barriers...

Week 1

Commence September with a spotlight on women's health for Women's Health Week. Promote open discussions with the women in your team and have coffee catch-ups to talk through the additional support they need. Let them know your always here if they need support - as is Converge.

Week 2

To maintain momentum, this week it's time to mark R U OK? Day! Encourage your people to ask one another: "are you okay?" Give them the tools to know how to approach and fulfil a mental health conversation - we can help there.

Week 3

At the midway point of the month, continue the R U OK? Day message by acknowledging World Suicide Prevention Day. Share helplines and evidence-based resources, hosting a short awareness or gatekeeper training, encouraging compassionate check-ins, using safe language, and highlighting confidential support through us.

Week 4

Don't let R U OK? Day slip. Offer your teams training and awareness sessions to keep the conversations going. Offer our resources, showcase our videos, and let them know that we're here to help, anytime, anywhere!

In 30 minutes we’ll cover what counselling includes (stress, anxiety, relationships, grief, burnout), who’s eligible, and how to book confidential 1:1 sessions via phone, video or in-person. We’ll walk through what to expect in the first appointment, simple tools people can use right away, and clear referral/escalation pathways if extra care is needed—plus a direct booking link so they can take action immediately.
