What advice is provided to the individual about speaking to their employer?

This is determined by what the individual presents. Where the individual is experiencing workplace issues, the individual and consultant may determine the best course of action, such as reviewing policy and procedure (which can highlight contact points determined by issue), speak to their manager if this is deemed appropriate or relevant staff member in managing a workplace issue (for example, HR). If this is a private matter, the individual may not feel it necessary to disclose anything. However, if the private matter is impacting their capacity to work, they may consider speaking to their manager about this as part of a plan towards getting support. For example, if the individual is impacted by FDV, they may talk to their manager as part of their safety plan to ensure the perpetrator isn’t able to access them at work or attend court.
