How long has Converge been around?
The history of Converge
Converge International was founded in the late 1950s under the name ITIM, a faith-based pastoral care organisation. It was set up to help many blue-collar, male dominated workforces adjusting back to life at work following the World War II. It was primarily a walk-the-floor model of providing support, with counsellors supporting with employees at the workplace when needed. In the 1960’s we started offering critical incident response services and counselling services through employed psychologists, social workers and counsellors (similar to what is now EAP). Fast forward to the early 2000s, and there was a name change from ITIM to Converge International. Then, in 2013, the then parent company of Converge, Reventure Limited, acquired ResolutionsRTK, a smaller but leading EAP and consulting provider based in Victoria, and merged with the broader Converge International organisation.
The next big jump occurred in 2016 through the acquisition of SafeSelect, a psychometric testing organisation specialising in assessing suitability of candidates being employed into high risk, public safety and emergency services organisations. Our most recent acquisition occurred at the end of 2021 when we acquired Head Up Labs, a health and wellbeing digital platform operating globally. Today, Converge International boasts an industry leading digital wellbeing app that continues to be rolled out to our customer base of over 1300 customers. While our deep history and parent entity may be as a not-for-profit organisation, today Converge International is a commercial entity that has grown to become one of Australia’s largest providers of EAP, critical incident, wellbeing and people safety services, caring for over 2 million Australian employees and their families.
